DID YOU KNOW?........ The Alaskan Malamute is one of the biggest shedders among dogs? When the Alaskan Malamute blows its coat, you can fill up several grocery sacks every week. That's a lot of hair to shed in such a short time!.....The breed took its name from a native Innuit tribe, the Mahlemuts. They were among the earliest settlers along the shores of the Kotzebue Sound in upper-western Alaska....The first Alaskan Malamutes imports came to the UK in 1859 under the kennel name Kananak....The Iditarod, also called the Last Great race' is run each year in Fabruary from Anchorage to Nome. The dogs cover a distance of over 1000 miles!....
